ARIBAM LAXMIRANI DEVI

Born  in 1973 Aribam Laxmirani Devi is a graduate from Manipur University and a Visharad degree holder in Sitar from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth, Lucknow and presently  pursuing Matser degree in Sitar. She is presently working as a leading musician at Rhythms of Manipur. She received Manipur State Kala Akademi scholarship from 1999 to 2001.Laxmirani completed four music projects and one opera with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. She worked  along with Tal Kravitz, a celebrated Israeli musician  in December 2010. In February 2013 she led the Rhythms of Manipur team in Singapore and Hong Kong tour sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), in connection with  the cultural marker event of the 20th years of ASEAN-INDIA partnership.

 

YAMBEM SUNILKUMAR SINGH

Born at Imphal in 1969 Yambem Sunilkumar Singh a Visharad degree in flute and diploma in  dance  from JNMDA earlier worked as a dancer of FACE joined the Rhythms of Manipur as a musician  in  1997.Performed in different parts of Japan in 1993 as member of the Manipuri cultural delegation led by Ratan Thiyam. Performed at Singapore and Hong Kong as member of Rhythms of Manipur in 2013.

 

GURUMAYUM TONI SHARMA

Gurumayum Toni Sharma born in 1976 worked as an assistant music director for over a dozen Manipuri digital film. Joined the Rhythms of Manipur as drummer in 2004 and toured many parts of the country and visited Singapore and Hong Kong.

 

NINGTHOUJAM PREMANANDA

Brought up in a family of music at Kawkeithel Mayai Koibi Ningthoujam Premananda learnt the art of Manipuri drum from Guru Lairenlakpam Yaima and Samurailatpam Mahanta Sharma from his tender age.

Travelled Allahanbad, Guwahati, Bangalore, Bhopal as a drummer for the last eight years. Played drums in the local and regional Doordarshan as member of the Rhythms of Manipur team.

 

SAMURAILATPAM MAHANTA SHARMA

A post graduate in Manipuri Sankirtana Pung from Jawharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal S. Mahanta Sharma learnt the art of Meitei Pung from reknown Gurus including Guru Thingbaijam Babu, Padamashree Awardee. He received Young Talent Scholarship from Department of Culture, New Delhi 1993 to 1995.Performed widely all over the country and visited South Korea, China, London in 1993.Recentlyi n 2013 February  visited Singapore and Hong Kong as musician of the Rhythms of Manipur. Mahanta Sharma also acted in some Manipuri video films and play Loika Loikum which featured in the prestigious NSD festival. Composed  few music compositions.

 

HUIDROM ANILKUMAR

Born on 9-9-1991 Huidrom Anilkumar trained Manipuri drum/pung from N. Thambalngou and S. Mahanta Sharma and joined the Rhythms of Manipur as a drummer. He also acted as Mami in the play Lilla Sangimami produced by Rhythms of Manipur. Performed in many of the parts of the country and visited Singapore and Hong Kong as member of the Rhythms of Manipur cultural delegation.

 


PHURAILATPAM BUDHA SHARMA

Born at Uripok, Imphal Budha Sharma completed Visharad in Flute from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapith, Lucknow joined the Rhythms of Manipur in 2006 as a flute player. Participated in many important national festival. Played music at the play Loika Loikum and Leela Sanglengee Mami. Toured Singapore and Hong Kong in 2013.

 

LAISHRAM MILLANJIT

Born at Imphal in 1990 Laishram Milanjit learnt Violin from Heishnam Bhagat. Joied the Rhythms of Manipur in 2007 and participated at various important festivals held at various parts of the country. Also acted in the play Leela Sanglengi Mami. Toured Singapore and Hong Kong as member of the Rhythms of Manipur team.

 

YENGKOKPAM BALARAJ

Born at Uripok, Imphal Balaraj completed three years course in violin from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapith, Lucknow. He joined the Rhythms of Manipur in 2007 and participated various cities of the country in connection with important festivals. Balaraj also toured Bhutan in 2009 as member of the Manipuri cultural delegation.

 

RAJKUMAR SANATOMBA

Born in Imphal Sanatomba associated with noted musician and composer Ng. Ibopishak and founded with him Rhythms of Manipur in 1985.Studies traditional music and  developed  indigenous orchestra with fusion of traditional and modern elements.

Participated in Theatre Music Workshop conducted by Julia Hollander Fellow Winster Churchill Memorial Trust, U.K. at Imphal in 1993.Led the Rhythms of Manipur team in tours outside the state since 1998.An state journalists awardee Sanatomba also associated with various media organisations and produced documentary films. Played music at Singapore and Hong Kong alongwith the Rhythms of Manipur team.

 

HEISHNAM BHAGAT

Born at Imphal  Heishnam Bhagat learnt music from celebrated violinist Boren and joined the Rhythms of Manipur in the year 1992 as a leading violinist. A visharad degree holder of the Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapith, Lucknow Bhagat actively involved in composing various music compositions of the group. His music composition The Journey won the best entry ward in the annual national Doordarshan competition 2009-10.Toured all over the country and visited different cities of Asian and Europe. Presently working as a Director of the group.

 

HAOBAM NISHESHWOR SINGH

Born and brought up in a family of cultural background Haobam Nisheshwor a graduate of Manipur University is a young composer and music director. Trained music under the strict guidance of well known music directors of Manipur. Attended a number of national theatre festivals in various capacity. Nisheshwor handled the music of the play LOIKA LOIKUM which was featured at the prestigious 14th National Theatre Festival (Bharat Rang Mahotsav) organised by the National School of Drama in 2012. He is also the Music Director of Lila Sanglengi Mami a masterpiece play of the group premiered on August 12, 2012 at Imphal.

Worked with Tal Kravitz, celebrated Israeli musician, in an event organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Embassy of Israel in 2010 at Imphal. Nisheshwor also participated the Festival of Manipur, Kolkota 2003, Kakatiya Festival, Warangal 2003, OCTAV 2007, Hydrabad, 10th Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2008 New Delhi and Mumbai, OCTAV 2008,Thiruvannantapuram,Goa,Mumbai.

So far composed six music peace and worked with various music and theatre company. He also touredl Hong Kong and Singapore in February 2013 as member of the Rhythms of Manipur sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations.
